On Tuesday 9th May a very informative Nepean Regional Forum "Working together to make the reforms work" was held at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in Katoomba, providing updates and lively discussion on the disability and aged care reforms. This event was a collaborative effort between WSCF, LEEP, NDCO and Blue Mountains, Penrith and Hawkesbury City Councils. Presentations from the Forum are available below.

Western Sydney Community Forum (WSCF) has organized a one-day conference to help further unpack the nine destinations featured in the Aged Care Roadmap (or the Roadmap). The Roadmap, completed in March 2016, was developed by the Aged Care Sector Committee. The Committee was tasked by the former Assistant Minister for Social Services, Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield, to develop the document to advise on future directions for aged care. The Roadmap presents the Aged Care Sector Committee’s views on the short, medium and long-term actions required to transform the current aged care system into a sustainable, consumer-driven and market-based system. The Roadmap is “intended to generate discussion across the aged care sector and government regarding future reforms to aged care”. The conference is designed for community aged care service providers as well as relevant stakeholders from other services and sectors....

The Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development has confirmed that the Western Sydney Airport Plan has been finalised and an interactive portal has been launched to demonstrate what the Western Sydney Airport could potentially look like. Inside the portal, you can look at the Western Sydney Airport site in 3D, view a series of short information videos on the vision for the site, and view an image gallery of before and after photos. Authorisation has also been granted for the construction and operation of the first stage of the airport, which is planned to open by mid 2020. This includes the construction of a passenger terminal, one runway, cargo facilities, dedicated maintenance areas, a public transport hub, easy access parking, and areas set aside for a business park. The site will also include on-site water recycling, service water treatment, and an environmental conservation zone...
