Transfer of Aged Care Pricing Commissioner Functions to Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority

As a result of the passing of the Aged Care and Other Legislation Amendment (Royal Commission Response) Bill  2022, the functions of the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner have been transferred to the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (Pricing Authority). Providers will now seek approval from the Pricing Authority for any increase or change in fees to additional services, or for charging higher than the maximum allowed for accommodation rate.

Home Care Package Monthly Statements Changing

Starting from September 2022, Home Care Package (HCP) providers will need to split their monthly statements to recipients into Commonwealth portion of provider-held funds, care recipient portion of provider-held funds, and home care account balance. This requirement will help to improve the quality of monthly statements, maintain transparency, and ensure that care recipients are informed about the use of their package funds.
