Welcome to our first edition of the Community Care News Digest for 2023! In this edition of the News Digest, you will read about all the latest updates, information, resources and events that are happening across the region.

This issue covers details of latest news which includes the release of updated guidelines on Star Ratings, reporting regulations, the Commission’s power to prohibit or restrict individuals to service provision and details of cap on administrative charges which apply from 1 January 2023. This issue also covers details of eligibility to COVID-19 Vaccine Booster.

The NCOSS Policy Platform sets out recommendations for the next NSW Parliament to address priority issues as identified by communities. The ELDAC Home Care App aims to support home care workers providing end of life and palliative care to their clients. The Ageing and Disability Commission has free flyers and brochures containing information on the different types of abuse and neglect. Ageing on the Edge NSW is a coalition with a focus on older people aged over 55 in NSW, in relation to housing and homelessness. The Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) has developed a free toolkit to help individuals to advocate for themselves and their loved ones in receiving better aged care. PwC Australia has been commissioned by the Department of Health and Aged Care to provide free, independent and confidential business advisory services to eligible aged care providers experiencing financial stress. More information about these can be found in this issue.

The Department of Health and Aged Care has released the next round of documentation for the new in-home aged care program and is seeking feedback. This issue includes links to latest Fact Sheet, 2023 in-home care program engagement calendar and Assistive Technologies and Home Modifications Scheme for in-home aged care as part of this release.

Lastly, there are several webinars, workshops and sessions delivered by Aged & Community Services Australia (ACSA), Planning for Future Health Care with Dementia Webinar, City of Canterbury Bankstown, Fairfield City Council, and Cumberland City Council. There is an abundance of knowledge to be gained from these events to support both seniors and service providers with the transition and we encourage you to register!
