Past Webinar:  Be Prepared: Home Care Mergers in Light of Industry Reform and Consolidation 

This webinar, which was held on 19 April, was an initiative of the Sector Support team at Hornsby Shire Council in Sydney with support from organisations who host sector support officers. It discussed merging as a possible strategic response for CHSP providers to consider. The webinar outlined information on the process of merging, considerations if choosing to merge, challenges and opportunities, and more. A stepped process was also discussed regarding what to consider when exploring a merger with another organisation, and tips on how to do so. CHSP Reform Expert Advisory Panel

WSCF is excited to launch its latest initiative designed to address the concerns brought about by the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety which will significantly affect CSHP service providers. We have brought together eminent professionals in the field of aged care and reform on our CHSP Reform Expert Advisory Panel. Consultations Open on a New Model for Regulating Aged Care 

The Department of Health and Aged Care is seeking input from aged care providers regarding A new model for regulating Aged Care, Consultation Paper No.2: Details of the proposed new model. Consultation for the first draft was completed in October 2022 and responses for this version will be accepted until 5.00pm on 23 June 2023. This feedback can be submitted in the form of a short survey of 15 minutes or a detailed survey of 2+ hours. Feedback is invited from older people, carers and families, aged care workers, Providers (i.e. service administrators, owners), aged care experts and peak organisations.

New Booklets Available on Reforming Aged Care in Australia 

There are two factsheets available on the current aged care reforms. The first is directed at older people and their families, and outlines the current context and impact of the reforms, personal stories from older people, and information on how to engage with the reforms. The second factsheet is directed at aged care workers, discusses the impact of the reforms on the workforce, and includes information on accessing supports.
