Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Care News Digest for 2026. In this edition, you will read about the latest news, information, resources and events to keep you up to date with the aged care, disability and community care sectors across the Western Sydney region.
There are multiple opportunities to contribute your feedback, whether you are a service provider or in the care workforce, a decision maker, person with lived experience, or carer. Feedback is sought regarding the state of the community sector, the mid-point review of the Department of Communities and Justice’s 10-year Ageing Well Strategy, and on a range of disability supports being reviewed by the NDIS Evidence Advisory Committee. More details on all these opportunities can be found in this edition.
Several resources are also available to help upskill the sector, raise awareness of an issue, or to help to acquire an extra tool in your toolkit. These include training and professional development opportunities for aged care workers, factsheets and guidance relating to Data Exchange (DEX), and Legal Aid NSW’s Legal Topics for Seniors 2026 Diary. You can find more information on these resources inside.
Lastly, the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has updated a few resources to align with new indexation rates and worker screening requirements. See inside for more details.
