I used to think that my body was my identity. For so long, I had been defined by it, and it had become all-consuming. The way that I looked had become the sole focus of my life. I have had to learn that my body was not my identity. It was simply a vessel that carried me through life. My worth was not defined by the way I looked or the number on a scale. It was something that came from within. It was my personality, my intelligence, my wit, my kindness, and my passion. My piece is entitled ” Our Bodies Are Not Who We Are” by Nomathemba Madziva
