This workshop discusses the concept of inclusion, how to identify and challenge stereotypes, using vision as a planning tool, and more. This workshop is for people with disability, their parents, family members, allies and professionals.
Workshop: Maintaining Connection – Identify Social Disconnection, Types of Loneliness and Strategies to Support Older People (CHSP/Home Care)

This 90 minute online workshop will teach frontline staff and volunteers within the CHSP and home care settings to identify social disconnection and implement strategies to counter this. Participants also receive a toolkit of supporting resources.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) – Online Forum

This forum’s theme is “Perception vs Reality” due to the perceptions of how the aged care reforms will be implemented as well as people’s current experiences versus the reality, and their current impact on older people. It will also include a presentation speaking about the blurred line between cultural obligation and elder abuse.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) – Roundtable

In honour of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2023, Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) will be hosting a roundtable with members of the National Older Persons Reference Group, to discuss experiences faced by older people, and an opportunity for conversation about, and practical strategies for, identification and support regarding ageism and abuse. The link to watch the discussion will be sent 24 hours prior to the roundtable, and another link to replay the event will be sent afterwards.
