WSCF Community Care News Digest Feedback Survey

WSCF is conducting a survey on our very own Community Care News Digest. The News Digest is primarily focused on disseminating information about aged care and older people. In saying that, it also shares information that is useful to people working with people with disability, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, LGBTIQA+ communities, and other areas that may intersect with aged care and the older population. We would love to know how you use the News Digest, whether the information distributed has been valuable for your work, and if there is anything else you would like to see added into the Digest. The survey will remain open until 31 July 2023.

Updated Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards

The Aged Care Quality Standards (Quality Standards) have been updated as per one of the recommendations arising from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. The Quality Standards set a benchmark for quality aged care, and are a helpful resource for any consumers and providers, as well as anyone else interacting with the aged care sector. The strengthened Quality Standards include 137 actions to help providers and workers strive to achieve the outcomes. There are now seven categories instead of eight, and align structurally with the NDIS Practice Standards. The Commission is currently piloting a program with 40 different providers putting these strengthened Standards into practice. The pilot program will run until September 2023, and outcomes will be shared with providers once the program has been evaluated. Fact sheets for providers and consumers provide more information about the pilot and engagement process. The consultation summary report contains the information received during the public consultation from 17 October to 25 November 2022.
