Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) 2024–25 Extension Update

Following the decision to extend the CHSP until 30 June 2025, this fact sheet highlights what providers need to know about the extension, and includes changes to CHSP National Unit Price Ranges, and information on a CHSP Community Transport Pricing Pilot which is to be undertaken between now and 30 June 2027.

Fair Work Commission Update on Stage 3 of the Aged Care Work Value Case

The full document detailing the Fair Work Commission’s decision to implement a pay rise for care workers can be found on their website, as well as a summary of the decision. Key points to note are: direct care workers (excluding nurses on the Nurses Award) would receive a pay rise of up to 28%, inclusive of the interim 15% rise; and Indirect care workers, including those working in administration, laundry and food service were deemed to “not perform work of equivalent value” and most will receive just a 3% increase.

Final Report of the Aged Care Taskforce

The Aged Care Taskforce has delivered its final report into the aged care sector, which includes 23 recommendations for improving the sustainability, fairness and innovation in the sector, to be able to facilitate the delivery of quality care to older people. Recommendations centre around supporting older people to age in place, ensuring equitable and sustainable funding, and improving the quality, innovation and transparency in the sector.
