Past Webinar: Q&A on Aged Care Wage Increase

On 15 June 2023, the Department of Health and Aged Care held a webinar on the aged care wage increase. It included information a relating to the $11.3 billion investment to fund the Fair Work Commission’s decision, and a Q&A session to answer any queries by aged care workers. Free Webinar Series on the Aged Care Reforms

These free sessions aim to inform the sector about the latest information on the aged care reforms and its practical implications for providers. The first session was held on 26 July, and the future sessions are listed below:

Provider Governance: New Resources Available

There are new resources available to assist approved aged care providers in implementing reforms to strengthen provider governance. These changes are set to come into effect on 1 December 2023, and relate to governing body membership requirements, staff qualifications and training, and more. Financial and Prudential Reforms Update

The financial monitoring of approved aged care providers is now in the hands of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission as of 1 July 2023. This transfer of responsibility from the Department of Health and Aged Care to the Commission was discussed in a video recording detailing the Commission’s updates, as well as the Commission’s existing functions. It is anticipated that this change will better support and strengthen the aged care sector.
